I’m Back!!!

Okay, so for those who pay attention to the Twitter feed, you probably noticed that roughly about a week ago I got really, really sick.  In fact, that might have been the exact phrase I used in describing it.  Now, let me reassure any of those worried, no it’s not contagious, and no, dimly lit alleys and crumpled Andrew Jacksons shoved into the front of bras had nothing to do with it either.  The doc thinks something might be a little “off” with my appendix, so I spent the better part of last week poppin’ pills, going in for x-rays and labwork, and so on and whatnot.  I feel a lot better now, and figured there’s no time like the somewhat-healthy present to get back in contact with all of you.

And, for those of you looking for some hard-earned wisdom, here it is: White Castle at 12:30 AM after watching MUSE at the Palace, wherein you accidentally eat two of your friend’s Jalapeno burgers (it was hard to tell whose was whose) then try to go to bed a half hour later…it’s a bad idea.

A very, very, very bad idea.

Don’t ever do it.

We clear on this?  Good.  Even though this likely wasn’t the sole reason for what followed, it was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

I found out something fascinating while ill, and it has nothing to do with memorizing the brand and liter capacity of my bathroom’s toilet.  It’s that…well, remember when you used to get sick and you’d stay at home watching The Price Is Right and drinking 7UP, and playing Mario?  Those “sick day” games don’t seem to exist anymore.

I leafed through a couple titles, hoping to zone out the pain, only to find it a largely futile gesture on my part.  All of the minimalist games I have like Geometry Wars 2 were way too frantetic for my brain to follow, despite the basic controls and simple goals.  On the other end of the spectrum were RPGs like…well…either of Bioware’s two latest entries.  But I lacked the patience and cogency to keep up with titles that alternated between “sit down and gab” fests and combat segments I would certainly be repeating several times over.

What does one play when they’re sick these days?

If you say Trauma Center, I will end you.

Anyway, Zander says I should aim for making my posts slightly shorter, so I’m going to leave this post on this note: expect new posts in the next day or two.

P.S. My pricing mojo is back too…just snagged Assassins Creed 2 for 25 dollars new, and I didn’t do it online.  I asked Zander if I would have to play “Encyclopedia Brown” for 6 hours before murdering someone in this one…he said “No,” and I was sold.
