Youtube Video of the Day 2-18-2010 (Glitch)

In the immortal words of Monty Python’s John Cleese, “…And now, for something completely different.”

And boy, do I mean different.

While stumbling through the “Rising Videos” sub-section of the “Games” category on Youtube, I found this trailer for an upcoming title called “Glitch.”  It’s short, but chock-full of…well…I really don’t quite know how to explain it.

Let’s just say that if you have trouble paying attention to anything, this video won’t let you down.  Anyway, I don’t want to give you any chance of understanding this more than I did, so…join me after the jump, will you please?

And now, allow me to give you the written transcript of my response to the trailer:

“Huh…I like the handwritten look.”

“Nice letters and art style.”

“Umm…what…wait, what…what, what, what, WHAT?”

“Slow down…I can’t get all of…what…hold on, is that, WHAT?”

Naturally, I went hunting for more information, and found the game’s official website. Those really curious are advised to peruse the site on their own damn time, but allow me to throw the big details your way.

First, the game will be free to play, and will launch late 2010.  Wait, didn’t the teaser cover all of that?  Hmm…oh, well.  What else?  Well, the game is about a future in which things that are predictable become less…probable?  I know, it’s a weak and weird premise, but it allows the game to literally go all over the place, and embrace all sorts of art styles, which I find entertaining.  The avatars in the trailer are merely placeholders, so don’t worry, and the game will run on any semi-new machine with Flash.  Also, interestingly enough, it’s made by four of the creators of Flickr.

A free online game that isn’t an RPG ridden with cheaters and hacks?  I’m…wait for it…GAME.

PS, I also am aware that the probably of cheaters and hacks showing up is inevitable, but this game seems less level-up/money based, so…one can dream.

    My brain… fried… seizures… overcoming me…

I hope the game doesn’t fry brains like the trailer did, looks promising.
